Easter Basket and Food Giveaway a Big Hit

Looking for a nice, feel-good post Easter story? We have one here.

Last week several hundred people jammed the DPI Labs parking lot at 1350 Arrow Highway, with young children getting Easter baskets, a photo with the Easter Bunny and, if they so desired, getting their face painted. Meanwhile, their parents were handed food and produce.

It was quite a scene.

The festive occasion was another Sowing Seeds for Life production, with many SSFL volunteers there to help and the Golden Spur restaurant in Glendora sponsoring
the Easter basket giveaway.

Nhancye (pronounced Nancy) D’Angelo and her sister Roberta, St. Lucy’s High students and the teenage daughters of new Golden Spur owners Joe and Daniela D’Angelo, spent two days filling 100 Easter baskets
with stuffed animals, various toys, plastic eggs and the like. Another 100 were provided by SSFL volunteer Merilee Goodwin of Glendora.

The giveaway, which took place April 4, was one of SSFL’s regularly scheduled giveaways held the first and third Wednesday of every month from 3 to 5 p.m.

Sowing Seeds for Life, an East San Gabriel Valley food bank founded by CEO Vicki Brown of Glendora, provides food and other products to some 6,000 needy people per
month, mainly through its giveaways at DPI Labs. They are held at DPI Labs because Vicki Brown is also the CEO of that aerospace company. DPI Labs also serves as the headquarters for Sowing Seeds for Life, or SSFL.

Joining the SSFL volunteers in helping out at the giveaway were University of La Verne and St. Lucy’s High students.

It was another example of young people doing good things.

Hi Ken we appreciate your concern with the scoreboard at Creekside Park, but their was no fingerRead More pointing on who was going to fix it. Pony Baseball has ordered the part needed to repair the scoreboard and we are very confident that it will be working properly for the All star tournaments.

I wasn't talking about that, when did that happen, '73? Richard Nixon? That was a colossal waste ofRead More money. Nixon also started the EPA. Not many realize what a worthless Liberal he really was. He also took us off the Gold Standard which was the genesis for out of control gov spending.

How many people in wheelchairs, or blind people walking around have you ever seen in Walnut? I'veRead More lived here since 1968, I haven't seen one, not a single one. I have nothing against the handicapped, I do have a problem with the money it costs to jackhammer up sidewalks, and put ramps that nobody needs, especially 5 feet from a driveway aprin.

How about Hillary's failures: 1) Bill cheated on her 2) She was beat out for President by a Negro.Read More That is sure to "get" southern crackers like the Clintons, no matter how liberal they are. 3) Through incompetence, she is responsible for the deaths in Benghazi and covered it up.
Michael W April 13, 2013 at 01:45 pm
You are so cynical, Hillary is awesome! She enabled the North Koreans to test a nuclear bomb withoutRead More consequences, turned Egypt into a hostile nation supporting the Moslem Brotherhood, supported the overthrow of Khadaffy in Libya, which is a paradise of Democracy now- take a romantic tour of Benghazi to prove it. Your nasty comments might bring on another fainting spell! "I declare, can a gentlemen get a lady a lemonade and a parasol"

Can anyone name even one of Hillary's accomplishments in the last four years? Other than maybe theRead More Benghazi debacle.
