Brea Retirement Community Named Project of the Year

The SoCal 55+Housing Council honored Oakmont Senior Living with a 2013 SAGE Award for Project of the Year in the continuing care retirement community category. Oakmont’s Executive Director Ken Garnett accepted the SAGE Award recognizing Capriana, the company’s world-class retirement campus in Brea, for its innovative approach to retired living and continuing care services.

Since 1995, SoCal 55+Housing Council has recognized individuals, projects and programs with SAGE Awards for their efforts and outstanding contributions to enhancing the quality of life for Southern California residents aged 55 and older. This year, Capriana was one of only four community projects to be honored at the 19th Annual SAGE Awards.

Completed earlier this year, Capriana is Orange County’s newest and most luxurious retirement campus. Covering 5.5 acres, the community is currently home to 80 residents and offers independent and assisted-living options for its 79 spacious apartment homes and casitas. As a full-service retirement campus, Capriana provides a wide range of resort amenities and services that are redefining the world of retired living. From gourmet meals and concierge services, to enjoying a screening in the movie theater and working in the resident gardens, Oakmont Senior Living has taken great care to create not just a community, but a rewarding lifestyle. Other onsite amenities and common areas include a fully equipped fitness center with daily fitness instruction, hiking trails, outdoor pool, library, salon and day spa, cocktail lounge, activity rooms and a pet park.

As a continuing care community, Capriana offers 24-hour, in-home medical services and assistance to provide residents the support they need as they age. Services are customized and include emergency response systems, personal health assessments and screenings, medication reminders, housekeeping, flu shots, dietary guidance and temporary in-home care for those recuperating from an illness or injury. A wellness center also allows outside physicians to visit their patients regularly onsite. For individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, Capriana offers Villagio, an on-site memory care center offering specialized services and therapy programs.

Capriana is one of five resort-style retirement communities to be completed by Oakmont Senior Living this year. The company currently has a portfolio of 12 signature Oakmont retirement communities, but has helped plan and develop more than 30 retirement communities in the western United States. Today, Oakmont Senior Living is constructing an additional three retirement communities throughout California expected to be completed next year.
