Come help the Pomona Host Lions make water-resistant sleeping mats for the homeless at the club’s June PlarnFest. This is the last mat-making event before summer break. It is being held from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 11 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 242 E. Alvarado St., Pomona, CA.
If you learn how to make sleeping mats at the PlarnFest, you can practice your new skill over the summer. The monthly PlarnFests will begin again in September.
At the PlarnFest, you will cut bags into strips and then loop tie them into long strings of plastic, called plarn. This plarn is then crocheted into mats. If you know how to crochet, bring a Q hook to the event. All completed mats are given to local homeless.
