Osteoporosis develops slowly if tests are normal at 65

Researchers have found that bone loss and osteoporosis develop so slowly that most women can safely wait as long as 15 years before scheduling a second bone density test.

Osteoporosis is a word that literally means, "porous bones." Bones lose density, and become vulnerable to cracks and fractures. Women who are thin and small framed are most likely to develop osteoporosis.
