Thanks and Goodbye

Hi Diamond Bar-Walnut Patchers! I am posting to let you know that Patch was recently purchased by a company who has decided to do some restructuring. As a result, the local editor positions have been eliminated, including mine.

Walnut was the first city I was assigned. Everyone has been so kind to me and supportive. The same can be said for Diamond Bar. It has been such a pleasure to cover news and features for both cities. My mom has lived in Diamond Bar since 1987, and I have lived in both Diamond Bar and Walnut myself. They are great communities!!! Thanks for welcoming me and Patch with open arms. I truly appreciate the support!!!!!

Sincerely yours with much gratitude,

Concerned Parent January 30, 2014 at 07:46 PM
Melanie, good luck to you. We will miss you. Maybe you should run for our city council or our school district board. I bet you will have plenty of people to support you.

Well that's a shame - both for Melanie and the area. Hopefully we won't go back to being the Land the Newspapers Forgot.

Boy, and they disconnected her email. Melanie, can you contact me? johnqpublic^occonnect.com "My dad's got an old barn we can use," so to speak.

They have determined that local editing who is closer to the community is inferior to what; corporate editing? Mistake, for the new kid in town. I thought this was suppose to be a 'Locals' Forum. Let's see what happens ;)

Why in the world would they sell the Patch? I don't see how it is a big money maker. Just a local forum.
