Walnut Valley Kiwanis Club and Walnut High School Key Club provide Christmas baskets for families in need.

For the 45th year the members of the WHS Key club and the Kiwanis club have joined together to provide turkey dinners and the other “fixins” for needy families in the area.  The students organize and conduct a canned food drive at the school and the Kiwanis group buys turkeys, fruit and vegetables which complete the family’s basket.  Under the guidance of Don Nettles, Kiwanis Club President, the Key clubbers and the Kiwanians come together to sort and prepare the boxes which are distributed on the Saturday before Christmas.

All the surplus cans of food are given to Isiah’s Rock, a charity in the Chino that provides children’s gifts and food for hundreds of families from all over this area.  Dozens of Key club students from both Walnut and Diamond Bar High Schools as well as Kiwanians also assist in that distribution during the days before Christmas.

The Kiwanis Club of Walnut Valley meets at Bob’s Big Boy restaurant on the corner of Brea Canyon Road and Golden Springs each Friday mornings at 7:00. Visitors are welcome.
