Hacienda League Football Round-Up

Here's a look at Hacienda League standings for football.

Going into the third week of league play, here’s how the Hacienda League standings stack up.

  • West Covina (2-0) – The Bulldogs defeated the Walnut Mustangs 48-10 and the 2010 Hacienda League champions will face the Bonita Wildcats Friday night at home.
  • Diamond Ranch (2-0) - Coming off a huge 31-19 victory over their rivals and taking home the Mayor’s Cup against Diamond Bar (highlights of the game can be seen at Sportscenetv.net), the Panthers have an advantage of having an offense with several key players to keep their opponents off guard. Coach Roddy Layton talked about the keys to winning the game in the Prep Sports podcast at Sportscenetv.net. It will be homecoming for Diamond Ranch this Friday night as they face Los Altos.
  • Los Altos (1-1) - First year head coach Dale Ziola and his team is coming off a 28-12 win over Rowland last week. Running back Justin Fa'aola is a key to the Conquerors offense with a total of 584 yards rushing this season.
  • Walnut (1-1) - With a big win over Los Altos in their first league game two weeks ago, the Mustangs couldn’t handle the tough West Covina Bulldogs with a 48-10 loss. They are looking to get back into the win column as they play the Rowland Raiders this Friday night.
  • Bonita (0-1) - Coming off a bye week, the Wildcats will get back into action and face one the Hacienda League’s toughest teams, the West Covina Bulldogs.
  • Rowland (0-1) - The Raiders 28-12 loss against Los Altos has them looking for a win this Friday night as Rowland travels to Walnut High School. Raiders coach Craig Snyder needs a big game from running back Terry Ford (who rushed for 133 yards against Los Altos)  and quarterback George Campos (with 114 yards passing and 1 touchdown against Los Altos) to lead the Raiders offense into victory.
  • Diamond Bar (0-2) - The Brahmas get a well-needed bye week after their loss to Diamond Ranch 31-19 last Friday night. This will allow the team to regroup and possibly let injuries to key players heal before going into another big game against the Walnut Mustangs. This game also has big stakes at hand as this is the traditional “Branding Iron” game.
