It's Game Day in Diamond Bar

Tonight’s Mayor’s Cup game will be one that will bring the Diamond Bar community together to support and cheer for the student-athletes that will take the field at Holmes Memorial Stadium on the campus of .

It is sure to be an evening of great competition as the players from both teams have played together in organized youth sports up until they were separated because of the school district boundaries that dictate where these student–athletes would attend high school.

Expect the stadium to be packed to full capacity with friends, family and other community members to observe this historic game that is the beginning of a long tradition that will last well beyond our lives.

Tonight the media should be taking well documented notes of the inaugural game and highlight the players and coaches who were first to play for this cup as it will go into the history books of the schools and community. The media should not use this game as one to split the community, nor should the community allow those in the media the fuel in creating a negative aspect causing ill-remarks on websites and blogs pitting school against school.

Tonight’s game is truly going to be a great event for the community of Diamond Bar and as a community, we will embrace this new tradition and have fun with it in a positive and sportsmanlike manner. After all, sportsmanship is what these student-athletes are learning by participating in sports.
