Diamond Ranch Begins League Play Tonight

The Diamond Ranch Panthers open the first game of Hacienda League play versus the West Covina Bulldogs tonights at West Covina beginning at 7 pm. 
The Panthers are coming off a shutout win, 28-0, over Schurr last week. Highlights from the game can be seen on the Sportscenetv.net website. In the game the Panthers received a big boost from the defense and special teams. 
In the first quarter, Schurr quarterback Salvador Chavez had his pass intercepted by the Panthers John Perkins who returned the ball back 43-yards for the touchdown. That put Diamond Ranch on the board to lead 7-0.
In the second quarter, it was Perkins again on special teams who picked up the ball after the football was blocked on a Schurr field goal attempt. Perkins ran the ball back 90-yards for the touchdown as time expired and the Panthers took a 21-0 lead going into halftime. Diamond Ranch would score another touchdown in the game and get the victory 28-0. 
The Panthers are entering their first Hacienda League game with a record of 3-1, tied for the second place spot with Diamond Bar and Bonita with the exact same records. While their opponents for tonight's game, West Covina, are coming into the game after a  52-33 loss against the Chino Hills Huskies.
