And the Winner Is... ! Best Lights Displays Announced for Diamond Bar

The city of Diamond Bar has announced the winners for the best holiday lights displays around town. Did your favorite win?

The city of Diamond Bar announced this week the winners of the 2012 Holiday Home Decorating Contest-- crowning a local resident a three-time champion.

This year, nearly 30 residents entered the fourth annual contest, according to City Spokeswoman Cecilia Arellano.

Coming out ahead again this year was the Gudvangen Family at 450 N. Prospectors Road, winning the title of "Best Holiday Spirit."  The Gudvangens wonback in 2009, and again in 2010.

Another award was given to the Crenshaw Family at 1380 Rolling Knoll Road, for the "Most Energy Efficient" display.

As for the "Best Neighborhood Display" (three homes on a block), some residents on Farel Avenue took that title:

  • 1020 Farel Avenue – The Medina Family
  • 1040 Farel Avenue – The Monk Family
  • 1041 Farel Avenue – The Tolentino Family

Each of the winners will be presented with a festive lawn sign at an upcoming city council meeting, according to Arellano.

According to the city, the contest "... is aimed at recognizing Diamond Bar residents who enhance the spirit of the season in the community while making an effort to incorporate energy-efficient practices into their outdoor holiday trimmings by using at least one strand of LED lights."

This year's contest saw about a 50 percent drop off in participation from last year, in which approximately 60 homes were entered in the contest.  The year before that, in 2010, 70 home had entered.

I wasn't talking about that, when did that happen, '73? Richard Nixon? That was a colossal waste ofRead More money. Nixon also started the EPA. Not many realize what a worthless Liberal he really was. He also took us off the Gold Standard which was the genesis for out of control gov spending.

How many people in wheelchairs, or blind people walking around have you ever seen in Walnut? I'veRead More lived here since 1968, I haven't seen one, not a single one. I have nothing against the handicapped, I do have a problem with the money it costs to jackhammer up sidewalks, and put ramps that nobody needs, especially 5 feet from a driveway aprin.

How about Hillary's failures: 1) Bill cheated on her 2) She was beat out for President by a Negro.Read More That is sure to "get" southern crackers like the Clintons, no matter how liberal they are. 3) Through incompetence, she is responsible for the deaths in Benghazi and covered it up.

You are so cynical, Hillary is awesome! She enabled the North Koreans to test a nuclear bomb withoutRead More consequences, turned Egypt into a hostile nation supporting the Moslem Brotherhood, supported the overthrow of Khadaffy in Libya, which is a paradise of Democracy now- take a romantic tour of Benghazi to prove it. Your nasty comments might bring on another fainting spell! "I declare, can a gentlemen get a lady a lemonade and a parasol"
