Diamond Bar to Kick Off Concerts and Movies in the Park

Summer in Diamond Bar gets underway this week with the start of the city's annual Concerts in the Park and Movies Under the Stars series.

This year's back-to-back series kicks off Wednesday and runs through Aug. 21 at Sycamore Canyon Park, 22930 Golden Springs Drive, according to the city's website.

This week's featured musical act will be the Latin band Bumptown, and the movie shown will be "Hotel Transylvania."

The rest of the concerts and movies scheduled are as follows:

  • July 17 - The Ravelers (Rock n' Roll) and "Madagascar 3
  • July 24 - The Answer (classic rock) and "Brave"
  • July 31 - Upstream (Caribbean) and "Jumanji"
  • Aug. 7 - Cold Duck (70s Top 40) and "Rise of the Guardians"
  • Aug. 14 - Kelly Rae Band (Country Pop) and "The Lorax"
  • Aug. 21 - The Ultimate Stones (Rolling Stones Tribute) and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

Besides the music and movies, the events also will include free activities for children, information booths, and giveaways from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The movies will start showing at dusk, according to the city.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket of chairs for lawn seating.  Picnic meals also are allowed, but local nonprofit food vendors also will be selling dinner cash only.

Personal barbecue grills are not allowed.  Event-goers are strongly discouraged from bring pets, excluding registered assistance animals.

The city is offering free parking and shuttle service at the Diamond Bar Golf Course beginning at 5:30 p.m.
