Author Takes a Look Behind the Scenes at Food Network

New York Times Journalist Allen Salkin will close out the the 15th annual Jewish Book Festival with a discussion the behind-the-scene story at the Food Network in Pasadena on Nov. 23.

The Jewish Federation of the Greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys sponsors the Festival.

Salkin is set to discuss how evolution of America’s “Foodie” culture is primarily a result of the creation of the Food Network nearly 20 years ago, organizers said through a news release.

The author plans to take guests behind the scenes for an insider's tour of the Food Network from its beginnings to national icon status, with its TV chef personalities and the executives behind them, backstairs conversations, scandals, and more in his book From Scratch: Inside the Food Network, organizers said.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and book signing, as well as a dessert reception co-hosted by Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center’s Sisterhood.

This event is open to the public. Advance tickets for this memorable evening are $12 or $15 at the door.

"We are excited to have Allen Salkin as our closing event author for what has been a marvelous Jewish Book Festival this year,” said Festival co-chair Janet Kadin.

The Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center is at 1434 N. Altadena. Books will be available at the event for purchase and signing.
