Pacific Crest Plays a Hometown Show

The Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps hosted the Corps at the Crest competition at Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday.

Athletes with instruments is how executive director Stuart Pompel describes the members of the Pacific Corps Drum and Bugle Corps.

The group lived up to that characterization Saturday afternoon as it pushed through the hour-and-a-half-long practice in tempuratures that reached the mid 90s.

"This is easy weather for us," Drum Major Mark Kveton said, referring to the national tour the ensemble is about to embark on. "It's only 95 but when we get to Arizona, Texas — down south — this is a piece of cake."

Pacific Crest was preparing for its only hometown show of the season, set to take place later that night at Mt. SAC's Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

The Pacific Crest Drum Corps bases its practices and rehearsals at Diamond Bar High School.
