Who's the Scariest of Them All?

The inaugural Fright Night Awards will allow the public to vote for the most frightening movie villain, the scariest movie, and the spookiest supernatural television show.

Is Hannibal Lecter the most frightening movie villain of all time? Or maybe Jason Vorhees? How about Michael Myers or Leatherface?

Those burning questions will be answered thanks to an awards competition announced Tuesday aimed at determining the greatest big- and small-screen frights, favorite scary movie and television performers and even best horror- movie scream of all time.

Online voting began Tuesday for the inaugural Fright Night Awards, an initiative of Cancer Bites, a blood cancer awareness and education campaign. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lymphoma Research Foundation and Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation are among the groups taking part in the campaign, which is aimed at increasing awareness of the prevalence of blood cancers.

Fans can cast votes in 21 Fright Night Award categories, ranging from favorite scary movie of the year, favorite vampire movie of the year and favorite supernatural television show. Voting is available at www.frightnightawards.com.

As for the most frightening horror movie villain of all time, Jack Nicholson's character Jack Torrance from "The Shining" is also nominated along with Hannibal Lecter ("Silence of the Lambs," "Hannibal"), Vorhees ("Friday the 13th"), Myers ("Halloween") and Leatherface ("Texas Chainsaw Massacre").

Another popular category is likely to be favorite scream of all time in a horror movie. Up for the honor are Jamie Lee Curtis from "Halloween," Janet Leigh from "Psycho," Drew Barrymore for "Scream," Shelley Duvall for "The Shining" and Heather Donahue from "The Blair Witch Project."

Winners will be announced Oct. 30.

I wasn't talking about that, when did that happen, '73? Richard Nixon? That was a colossal waste ofRead More money. Nixon also started the EPA. Not many realize what a worthless Liberal he really was. He also took us off the Gold Standard which was the genesis for out of control gov spending.

How many people in wheelchairs, or blind people walking around have you ever seen in Walnut? I'veRead More lived here since 1968, I haven't seen one, not a single one. I have nothing against the handicapped, I do have a problem with the money it costs to jackhammer up sidewalks, and put ramps that nobody needs, especially 5 feet from a driveway aprin.

How about Hillary's failures: 1) Bill cheated on her 2) She was beat out for President by a Negro.Read More That is sure to "get" southern crackers like the Clintons, no matter how liberal they are. 3) Through incompetence, she is responsible for the deaths in Benghazi and covered it up.
Michael W April 13, 2013 at 01:45 pm
You are so cynical, Hillary is awesome! She enabled the North Koreans to test a nuclear bomb withoutRead More consequences, turned Egypt into a hostile nation supporting the Moslem Brotherhood, supported the overthrow of Khadaffy in Libya, which is a paradise of Democracy now- take a romantic tour of Benghazi to prove it. Your nasty comments might bring on another fainting spell! "I declare, can a gentlemen get a lady a lemonade and a parasol"
