Six File Papers to Run for Diamond Bar City Council

Three incumbents will face off against three challengers in the Nov. 5 election.

Six candidates will vie for three seats on the Diamond Bar City Council this November.

Among those who filed papers for the three seats occupied by Mayor Pro Tem Ron Everett and council members Steve Tye and Ling-Ling Chang were the incumbents themselves.

Also running are challengers Joseph Kim, Nancy Lyons, and Martin Nakaishi, according to city spokeswoman Marsha Roa.

More information about those running, including their candidate statements, will be available for review Monday, she said.

Lyons is well known. She serves as the vice president of the Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees.

Chang is running two races. The former Diamond Bar mayor also is running for the 55th Assembly District against Walnut Valley school Board Member Phillip Chen.

Today at 4:30 marked the deadline for filing nomination papers. The election takes place Nov. 5.
