AT&T Makes Upgrades to Cell Sites in Walnut

AT&T recently made some upgrades to additional mobile Internet cell cites in Walnut to expand 4G LTE coverage for residents and business owners.

The telecommunications company launched its 4G LTE network in the Los Angeles area, including Walnut, in January 2012, according to a news release.  Th new cell sites are part of an ongoing effort to expand 4G LTE coverage, officials said.

“Our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience, and they’ll be able to download, upload, stream and game faster than ever before on our 4G LTE network,” said Mike Silacci, Regional Vice President, AT&T External Affairs, in a statement. “As part of the Walnut community, we’re always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is another way we’re accomplishing that.”

AT&T announced its three-year investment plan last fall to expand and enhance its IT broadband networks so customers can have faster high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app, and cloud-based services. The company plans to add more than 10,000 macro cell sites nationwide by the end of 2015, as well as putting more than 40,000 small cells in operation, officials said.
