Capriotti's Sandwich Shop Opens in Walnut

The Walnut location is the 11th to open in the state.

Walnut has a new eatery.

Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop opened today in the Village at Snow Creek shopping center near Starbucks and Nature’s Juice.

An employee at the shop was preparing this morning for customers, decorating the tables and chair with balloons in preparation for the opening.

The Walnut store is the 11th the company has opened in California. The shop fills a vacancy at the center at Grand Avenue and Valley Boulevard left by Quiznos, who closed down in the summer of 2011. Capriotti’s also has a shop in Glendora.

“Californians cannot get enough of Capriotti’s, so we are excited to keep opening stores across the state and providing sub lovers with an unparalleled sandwich experience,” Ashley Morris, CEO of Capriotti’s, said in a statement. “We look forward to impressing Walnut residents with our gourmet sandwiches, made with hand-pulled turkey and our inviting family atmosphere.”

Capriotti’s was founded in 1976 and has more than 80 company-owned and franchise locations in eleven states including California, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin and Nevada, according to a news release.

The eatery’s signature sandwich is the Bobbie, which was voted “The Greatest Sandwich in America” by thousands of readers across the country and reported by AOL.com, company officials said.

The Bobbie is made with fresh hand-pulled turkey, cranberry sauce, homemade stuffing, and a touch of mayo.

Capriotti’s also has been named one of the “10 Great Places for a Surprising Sandwich” by USA Today and recently was a winner in the “Best of” awards in Delaware, Las Vegas, Dallas, Quad Cities, Eastern Shore and San Diego.

Other award-winning sub include the Capastrami, which features hot pastrami, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and coleslaw and the hot Cheese steak, made Delaware style with white American cheese.

The shop also has vegetarian options and hand-prepared, unique salads.

Capriotti’s in Walnut is located at 505 N. Grand Ave, Suite C. The hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
