"Our commitment at City of Hope is to better serve the residents of our own community in a way that reflects the increasingly important role that diverse populations, including Chinese Americans, play in our area, and we are making every effort to be proactive in our outreach to those populations," according to Stephanie Neuvirth, chief human resources and diversity officer at City of Hope.

Hospital officials noted that the San Gabriel Valley includes a population that is 29 percent Chinese, and Chinese is the primary language for the bulk of that population.
