Nearby Icetown in Riverside is offering free skate rentals tonight for participants in The Big Blue Test. What is that? Read on.

Do you have diabetes? Do you know someone who lives with diabetes? Does the condition run in your family? And, do you like to ice skate or want to try?

The Diabetes Hands Foundation is promoting The Big Blue Test a program that encourages people with diabetes to test their blood sugar, exercise for 14-20 minutes, test again and share their experience on BigBlueTest.org.

If you like to ice skate and want to participate in the test, you’re encouraged to travel a half hour to Icetown Riverside, 10540 Magnolia Ave. From 6:30 to 9 tonight, the rink is offering guests free skate rentals and the chance to take The Big Blue Test. General admission is $10 for adults and $7 for ages 5 and younger.

Rink guests are asked to mention Big Blue Test at the box office to get the free skate rentals for the public session. For more information call (951) 637-3070. The rink is affiliated with the Stanely Cup winners Los Angeles Kings.

Diabetes has become all to common thanks to obesity, according to many experts.

Participants in The Big Blue Test have averaged a blood sugar drop of 20 percent, according to the program’s website. And with every Big Blue Test result a donation is made by the program sponsor to help others around the world with diabetes in need, according to the site.

For every test, people with diabetes in need receive life-saving supplies through Big Blue Test grants that are awarded to humanitarian diabetes charities in the US and around the world, made possible thanks to the program sponsor, Big Blue Test officials wrote.
