Lazy Dog Restaurant Opens in Brea

The State College Boulevard eatery also features a test kitchen and a chef's garden.

Diamond Bar's neighbor Brea has a new eatery.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar opened officially opened its doors Wednesday, according to a news release.  The State College Boulevard location also will include an expansive test kitchen for research and development and a Chef's Garden that will connect the eatery with the community and local schools.

The restaurant chain held two pre-opening events this week and plans to donate the proceeds raised from those to the Brea Education Foundation, company officials said.

“With our partnership with the Brea Education Foundation, we’re able to reach not just one school, but nine, ranging from elementary to high schools,” said Lazy Dog Founder Chris Simms in a statement. “It’s an incredible opportunity for us to provide support to thousands of students and set the tone for an ongoing relationship with the Brea community.”

Lazy Dog features an eclectic menu with everything from the barbecue bacon cheeseburger to spicy Moroccan Chicken and cous cous to brick-oven Mediterranean pizza.

A new dessert menu from Chef Gabe Caliendo, which debuted at all Lazy Dog restaurants Nov. 15, will be featured at the Brea location. The restaurant totals 9,000 square feet.

The garden will span the length of the 1,200-square-foot kitchen and include everything from assorted lettuces and herbs to heirloom garlic and flowing fruits trees.

“We’ve been teaching cooking classes at Lazy Dog for years, and with the new garden and test kitchen we’ll have the opportunity to invite students in for demos on how to create healthful meals with fresh ingredients grown right outside the restaurant,” Caliendo said.

Lazy Dog Brea is located at 240 S. State College Boulevard and is open from 11 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.

Brunch is available until 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and Happy Hour is offered from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and again from 9 p.m. until midnight, Sunday through Thursday.  For locations and more information, visit www.lazydogcafe.com.

How many people in wheelchairs, or blind people walking around have you ever seen in Walnut? I'veRead More lived here since 1968, I haven't seen one, not a single one. I have nothing against the handicapped, I do have a problem with the money it costs to jackhammer up sidewalks, and put ramps that nobody needs, especially 5 feet from a driveway aprin.

You are so cynical, Hillary is awesome! She enabled the North Koreans to test a nuclear bomb withoutRead More consequences, turned Egypt into a hostile nation supporting the Moslem Brotherhood, supported the overthrow of Khadaffy in Libya, which is a paradise of Democracy now- take a romantic tour of Benghazi to prove it.
