Local Gas Prices Hold Steady

Gas prices are seeing little change locally, at least for the time being, but there could be dramatically lower prices soon since crude oil prices declined along with the stocks on Wall Street this week.

The price of oil is down 25 percent since spring.

A gallon of self-serve in the Long Beach-L.A. area is $3.816 per gallon. That's about a third of a cent lower than a week ago, only 2 cents higher than a month ago, but 70 cents higher than last year, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch.

It's a little less in Orange County, at $3.799 a gallon, though that's 0.4 cents higher than last week.

In the Inland Empire, the average per gallon price is unchanged from last week at $3.793. But that's 3 cents higher than last month, and 69 cents more than a year ago.

The lowest price nationally is $3.12 in Tucson. Ariz. and the highest is $4.85 in Alaska's Denali National Park, according to MapQuest.
