Paradise Pizza to Help Walnut High Wrestling Raise Money for New Mat

The team also is fundraising for the $8,000 mat through the website indiegogo.com.

The Walnut High School wrestling team is trying to raise funds for a new mat and is getting some help from Paradise Pizza.

The eatery plans to donate 20 percent of all regular prized pizzas sold Saturday and Sunday when customers mention Walnut wrestling, according to Paradise Pizza's Facebook page.

"Hope we can help with reaching the goal," the restaurant wrote.

The team is also raising funds for the mat through the website indiegogo.com.

Walnut High has produced CIF champions for four the past five years and want to continue its push for success, according to the website.  The new mat costs $8,000 and the team has raised $1,119 towards the goal.

"With the current state of the economy and continuing budget cuts, our fundraising efforts are more important than ever," the team wrote. "All money raised through this campaign will be used to purchase a new wrestling mat, and any excess funds will go towards other expenses incurred throughout the season, such as tournament fees, transportation costs, and team uniforms."
