Ranch House Cafe & Grill Now Open

The owners of the eatery, which replaced Carrows, had a grand opening ribbon cutting Tuesday.

The city of Diamond Bar’s newest eatery celebrated its grand opening Tuesday.

Ranch House Café & Grill opened its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a visit from four of the five city council members.  The Golden Springs Drive restaurant took the place of a Carrows that had served the community since 1977. The Catalina Restaurant Group owns both Carrows and Ranch House.  The company also owns Cocos, which has a location across the street from Ranch House.

At the Diamond Bar City Council meeting Tuesday night, council members lauded the opening.

“The food was phenomenal,” said Mayor Ling-Ling Chang.

Councilman Ron Everett said he welcomes another option for dining in town, adding that he was impressed at how fast the Carrows site was transformed.

“That was a real trip,” he said.  “It was an economic business reopening probably done the fastest I’ve seen, in four weeks.”

Residents expressed concerns in September when Carrows shuttered, especially in light of the August closure of the Denny’s on Pathfinder.  Several said they want to see more variety in the types of eateries in Diamond Bar.

Catalina Group officials said when Carrows closed that they understood the concerns but felt Ranch House would better serve the community by offering breakfast, steaks, chicken, burgers, a salad bar, and hot soups.

“We understand that Carrows was an important fixture in the community, however in order to meet the changing demands of our consumers, we as a company have developed a new restaurant concept named ‘Ranch House Café & Grill,’” Keith Marron, director of marketing for the Catalina Restaurant Group, wrote in an email.

“We are very excited about this concept and our first location, which opened in August in the City of La Habra, has had a very positive response from the community,” Marron wrote. “This new restaurant helps meet consumer's needs for delicious food, served quickly in a friendly, causal environment.”

Drake Yoshida, a manager with the restaurant, greeted the council members Tuesday night with "Howdy," the standard way Ranch House customers are welcomed. He said that besides a variety of food, the eatery serves four different coffees, beer, and wine, he said.

“We’re proud to be in the city of Diamond Bar,” he said.

Have not heard this, does it matter? That food quality is not too good and their Yelp comments areRead More pretty bad. That Del Taco is pretty scary too. That's an awesome location, I'd be cool if they would get out of the '70's and get something like a Five Guys in there.

Hi Ken we appreciate your concern with the scoreboard at Creekside Park, but their was no fingerRead More pointing on who was going to fix it. Pony Baseball has ordered the part needed to repair the scoreboard and we are very confident that it will be working properly for the All star tournaments.

I wasn't talking about that, when did that happen, '73? Richard Nixon? That was a colossal waste ofRead More money. Nixon also started the EPA. Not many realize what a worthless Liberal he really was. He also took us off the Gold Standard which was the genesis for out of control gov spending.

How many people in wheelchairs, or blind people walking around have you ever seen in Walnut? I'veRead More lived here since 1968, I haven't seen one, not a single one. I have nothing against the handicapped, I do have a problem with the money it costs to jackhammer up sidewalks, and put ramps that nobody needs, especially 5 feet from a driveway aprin.

How about Hillary's failures: 1) Bill cheated on her 2) She was beat out for President by a Negro.Read More That is sure to "get" southern crackers like the Clintons, no matter how liberal they are. 3) Through incompetence, she is responsible for the deaths in Benghazi and covered it up.

You are so cynical, Hillary is awesome! She enabled the North Koreans to test a nuclear bomb withoutRead More consequences, turned Egypt into a hostile nation supporting the Moslem Brotherhood, supported the overthrow of Khadaffy in Libya, which is a paradise of Democracy now- take a romantic tour of Benghazi to prove it. Your nasty comments might bring on another fainting spell! "I declare, can a gentlemen get a lady a lemonade and a parasol"
