Southland Gas Prices Record Largest Daily Decreases Since May

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County today recorded its largest daily decrease since May 9, dropping 1.3 cents to $4.151.

The average price has dropped five times in the last six days after rising 10 times in 11 days, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 2.9 cents less than one week ago but 1.3 cents more than one month ago and 10.9 cents higher than one year ago.

The Orange County average price recorded its largest daily decrease since May 13, dropping 1.2 cents to $4.135. It has dropped five times in six days after rising 14 times in 15 days to its highest amount since May 19.

The Orange County average price is 3 cents less than one week ago but 2.5 cents more than one month ago and 10.9 cents higher than one year ago.

"Wholesale gasoline prices have dropped locally by more than 30 cents a gallon over the last two weeks, indicating a more steady fuel supply," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California. "If this trend holds, we can expect to see more drops at the pump."
