Tea Party Touts Rep. from Diamond Bar April 4, 'Damn the Elections' Ad Sunday

The Redlands Tea Party Patriots are touting the appearance of Congressman Gary Miller, R-Diamond Bar, at their April 4 meeting in Mentone, and a full-page ad they have paid for in two local newspaper stating "Damn The Elections And Full Speed Ahead!"

Miller, who is from Diamond Bar and represents the redrawn 31st Congressional District, is expected to speak at the Redlands Tea Party's next general meeting, scheduled 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday April 4, according to the group's newsletter.

Rep. Ed Royce, R-Fullerton, now represents Diamond Bar and Walnut in the redrawn 39th Congressional District.

The meeting is planned at Mill Creek Cattle Company, 1874 Mentone Blvd. A no-host dinner is scheduled before the meeting and doors open at 5:30 p.m., according to organizers.

The "Damn The Elections" ad is expected to appear Sunday March 31 in the Redlands Daily Facts and in The Sun of San Bernardino, according to this week's Redlands Tea Party newsletter.

"Like that headline?" the newsletter distributed March 28 asks. "You will see it again this Sunday in the form of a full-page color ad in the Redlands Daily Facts and San Bernardino Sun. (We had to get special permission from the Sun to use "damn" in the headline, but dang it, we got it in!)"

The ad is one of several ways local Tea Party leaders are promoting their fifth annual Tax Day rally in downtown Redlands on Monday April 15, according to the group's newsletter.

"The rally is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the corners of Redlands Boulevard and Orange Street," the newsletter states. "Bring your friends and family because this is our stand against the oppressive taxes and overbearing regulations from Washington and Sacramento. We will also be standing up for the Second Amendment."

In the group's first-ever straw poll in May 2012, five days before the June 5 primary election, Redlands Tea Party members supported candidates they identified as conservative, including Miller, Gregg Imus, Mary Bono Mack, Neil Derry, Brian Nestande, Mike Morrell and Tim Donnelly.
