Capitol Comment for the Week of March 24th, 2014
Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) spells out the details of Suspension Resolutions that were acted on by the State Senate in his Capitol Comment report for the week of March 24th, 2014.
The California State Senate took unprecedented action to formally suspend three Democrat State Senators for felony convictions or for felony indictments that include gun running, taking bribes, and political corruption. Passage of the Senate Resolutions means that Senators Leland Yee, Rod Wright and Ron Calderon will not be allowed on the Senate Floor to vote on any issue.
While they will still continue to collect paychecks, they will not be allowed back in Senate Chambers until "until all criminal proceedings currently pending against them have been dismissed."
