Burger King Demolition Clears the Way for Chase Bank

The South Diamond Bar Boulevard Burger King is no more.

Construction crews have leveled the Diamond Hills Plaza shopping center building that housed the fast food eatery to make way for a JP Morgan Chase bank branch.

Chase's plans calll for the construction of a 3,431-square-foot bank with drive-thru ATM windows.

The Diamond Bar Planning Commission in February voted to approve a conditional use permit for the bank. Also approved was a development review and a comprehensive sign program for the project.

Natalie Tobon, an assistant planner with the city, said at the time that the conditional use permit was to mitigate any lighting, noise, circulation, or parking issues.

The bank will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., but the drive-thru ATM machines will remain open 24 hours a day, according to staff.

“It must be a good business,” Commissioner Jimmy Lin said in February about banks.  “At Diamond Bar Boulevard and Grand, I counted seven banks on four corners, but I welcome another one coming to town.”
