Cafes for a Rainy Day in Diamond Bar

Rain is predicted throughout the weekend, so why not cozy up with some hot chocolate or coffee, a good book (or Netflix streaming to your cell phone), in a comfy Diamond Bar spot?

Every week, Patch picks the best, worst, most outrageous, funniest, etc. for your perusal.

That said, our list is just a start. This week, we feature local spots to enjoy while Mother Nature keeps up the wet weather through this weekend, starting with slight chance of rain tonight and heavy rain and possible thunderstorms through Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service's Quick Forecast for Diamond Bar.

  • : Take in a wide variety of hot teas and cold concoctions with boba, and give the wontons a try. The menu has a varied selection of rice bowls and even a steamed sole filet for just $8. Patch has a review of Tea Rush pending, and I can say that the outlook is good.
  • : Despite the rain, it's most likely that the guitar crew will still be outside of It's a Grind. And if they can weather the storm, so can you! If you've not met John (the man with the classical guitar most often seen jamming in front of the cafe), say hello. And if you're looking to play some blues, bring your axe!
  • : The Super Bowl's never over in Diamond Bar. Alongside great pho, the Thai Iced Tea with boba is excellent. And, on rainy days, the view of Diamond Bar Boulevard from is oddly peaceful, except of course when trees fall and block traffic
  • : First, it's right next door to Pho Super Bowl, so if you're looking to pair a hot soup with a wide selection of tea house specialties, you needn't look far.
  • : There are many places in town that you can order coffee, but the coffee at Boulevard Bagels is set apart by one uncontestable fact: it is served in a mug. And, on a rainy day especially, a mug beats a paper cup hands down. If anyone can provide me another local spot that serves up hot beverages in mugs, I'd be comforted to hear it.
  • Starbucks: Just hear me out, I promise. If you normally stop by the in the H-Mart Center, give the a try. A change of pace is always good, and who knows who you might run into (unless that's the reason you're sticking to the same Starbucks). If you're looking to really mix things up, try lounging around the produce section with your coffee from the (maybe not the best idea).
