Coach Honored, Multicultural Carnival a Hit, and More in the Week in Review

Authorities are seeking information on a burglar who escaped from a home in Diamond Bar Thursday before police arrived.

Diamond Bar High School Coach Tony McCabe was honored Wednesday by the Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees, after being named the California Coaches’ Association Southern Section Coach of the Year - Girls' Golf.

Former Lorbeer Middle School teacher Steven Andrews appeared in court Wednesday, but was quickly ushered out again after a brief hearing in which his arraignment, on charges of committing lewd acts with a 14-year-old student, was set back until March 5.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, members of the community came out to Diamond Bar High School in droves for rides, games, food and fun during the school’s first ever multicultural carnival.

The relationship between Los Angeles County Assessor John Noguez and a tax specialist who helped get him elected is the focus of prosecutors examining allegations that property valuations -- and tax bills -- were lowered for favored clients, it was reported Sunday.
