County Seeks Community Heroes for LA Fair

Selected Diamond Bar residents will be honored on Diamond Bar Day at the Los Angeles County Fair, which will be held this year on Sept. 15.

The city of Diamond Bar and the Los Angeles County Fair Association are seeking nominees for the annual Community Hero Award.

The L.A. County Fair Board writes in its nomination form that nominees will be "a diligent and deserving individual... quietly affecting change and contributing to the quality of life in your city."

Nominations will be accepted by the Fair Board through Friday, June 17 and will offer the winners a number of perks and recognition during Diamond Bar Day at the Fair, on Thursday, Sept. 15.

On that day, the selected nominees will receive free valet parking and admission to the Fair, grandstand box seats to view the horse races, a special reception with beverages and hors d'ouevres, a ride through the Fair's main strip in special vehicles or floats, and a special presentation from local and county officials.

Last year's Community Heroes were Yolanda Gone and Mei Lien Chang.

Nominees can be of any age and can be family or friends of the nominator. More information and the nomination form is available from the city volunteer recognition Web page.
