Diamond Bar City Council Honors Deputies for Nabbing Suspected Robber

The Diamond Bar City Council Tuesday night recognized three Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies for their efforts in capturing a suspect in a string of gas station robberies.

Capt. Jeff Scroggin lauded deputies Danta Moore, Franklin Novelo, and Ray Huang for their work, which led to the June 23 arrest of Edward Anthony Sanders on suspicion of robbing three gas stations in Diamond Bar and Walnut.

Sanders, 31, appeared in Pomona Superior Court Monday where he pleaded not guilty to all of the charges, said Jane Robison, a Los Angeles County District Attorney's office spokeswoman.

He faces nine counts total, one count of kidnapping to commit another crime, three counts of second degree robbery, three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, one count of carrying a loaded, stolen firearm, and one count of receiving stolen property, Robison said.

Sanders, who has addresses listed in Pomona and Anaheim, is being held on $1 million bail. His next court date is Aug.7.
