Get Out This Weekend

Watch a star show with a Harry Potter twist, and try tasty treats at the Wheel Food Festival.

With the weekend right around the corner, here’s a guide to some events you might want to check out.

1. WHEEL FOOD FESTIVAL

Where/When: Walnut Valley Unified School District office, 880 S. Lemon Ave., Walnut. Saturday, November 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Six trucks - including the Lime Truck, which won Food Network's Great Food Truck Race lase season - will be on hand for this fundraiser for the Walnut Valley Educational Foundation and Walnut Valley Food Bank.

Pricing: $1 entrance fee with canned good item, $2 without. Food prices vary.

2. THE MAGIC OF ASTRONOMY

Where/When: Mt. San Antonio College, 1100 N. Grand Ave., Walnut. Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19, 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Why go: This weekend’s shows are inspired by the Harry Potter series, so expect lots of wizardry to go along with the star show.

Pricing: $6 general admission, $4 for students and children.

3. GLENDORA VILLAGE HOLIDAY STROLL AND TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Where/When: Glendora City Hall, 116 E. Foothill Blvd., Glendora. Friday, November 18, 6 p.m.

Why go: Ready to get into the holiday spirit? The city of Glendora is holding its tree lighting ceremony, complete with the mayor and City Council members reading the story of Christmas, two Dickens groups dressed in period attire, and performances from Glendora High School choirs.

Pricing: Free

4. “AND THEY’RE OFF! EPHEMERA AND IMAGES OF SANTA ANITA PARK”

Where/When: The Ruth and Charles Glib Arcadia Historical Museum, 380 W. Huntington Dr., Arcadia. Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: Fans of horse racing and Santa Anita Park will appreciate seeing up close and personal photos and ephemera from throughout the history of the park. Visitors will learn about the horses, jockeys, and people who have influenced the park over the years.
