Get Out This Weekend

Interact with authors, or take your children to read with therapy dogs.

With the weekend right around the corner, here’s a guide to some events you might want to check out. 

1. MYSTERY ON THE MENU

WHERE/WHEN: Walnut Senior Center, 21215 La Puente Road, Walnut. Saturday, February 4, 2 p.m.

WHY GO: Three bestselling authors - Ann Cherian, Linda Hamilton, and Tod Goldberg - will spend the afternoon discussing their books and taking questions from the audience. Coffee, tea and snacks will be served.

PRICING: $25, with tickets available for purchase at the Walnut Library.

2. HORSE EXPO POMONA

WHERE/WHEN: Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona. Thursday, February 2 through Saturday, February 4, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

WHY GO: Horse lovers will be in heaven during this event, which will feature exhibits, an Equine Art Gallery, the Project Cowboy competition, and a Young Rider Park. 

PRICING: $18 per day, $10 for children 7 to 13; $45 for three-day pass

3. BARKS & BOOKS

WHERE/WHEN: Diamond Bar Public Library, 1061 Grand Ave., Diamond Bar. Saturday, February 4, Noon.

WHY GO: Kids five and over can practice their reading skills with reading therapy dogs Morgan and Smacky. Each child will have the opportunity to read their favorite book from home or a pick from the library to one of the dogs.
