Get Out This Weekend

Hang out with Santa at the library, or adopt a new furry friend.

With the weekend right around the corner, here’s a guide to some events you might want to check out.

1. HOLIDAY ART ACTIVITIES WITH SANTA

Where/When: Diamond Bar Public Library, 1061 Grand Ave., Diamond Bar. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Fun holiday art activities will be available for kids between the ages of two to 11, and Santa and his elf will be on hand for photos.

2. SEASON OF LIGHT AT THE MT. SAC PLANETARIUM

Where/When: 1100 N. Grand Ave., Walnut. Saturday, Dec. 17, 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: The program will display the phenomenon of the Christmas Star and the inception of all sorts of holiday traditions, including gifts, decorating, and food.

Pricing: $6

3. CHRISTMAS IS...

Where/When: Haugh Performing Arts Center, Citrus College, 1000 W. Foothill Blvd., Glendora. Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday, Dec. 18 2 p.m.

Why Go: This annual choral concert features an original story, the Citrus Singers, a live orchestra, and more. Expect lots of holiday tunes and dancing.

Pricing: $20 general admission, $18 for students and seniors, $15 for 16 and under

4. WHISKER WONDERLAND: A FOUND ANIMALS HOLIDAY PET ADOPTION EVENT

Where/When: 4275 Elton St., Baldwin Park. Saturday, Dec. 17, 10 a.m.

Why Go: Across Los Angeles County, 17 shelters are showcasing hundreds of adoptable pets looking for loving homes. Not only will adoption fees be discounted, but each pet will go home with a new Ortho Mattress pet bed. Participating shelters include: Los Angeles Animal Services (East Valley, West Valley, North Central, South Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, Harbor), L.A. County Dept. of Animal Care and Control (Agoura, Baldwin Park, Carson, Castaic, Downey, Lancaster, Antelope Valley Pet Stop), SEACCA, Burbank Animal Shelter, Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, and Adopt & Shop in Lakewood.
