Get Out This Weekend

Learn how to ice skate with your child, and walk down memory lane at the Pantera carnival.

With the weekend right around the corner, here’s a guide to some events you might want to check out.

1. PANTERA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CARNIVAL

Where/When: Pantera Elementary School, 801 Pantera Drive, Diamond Bar. Friday, October 28, 5 to 8 p.m.

Why Go: To celebrate 10 years, Pantera’s annual carnival is going to be bigger and better than ever. There will be food, games, booths, and activities, in addition to an alumni slideshow. Come back and reminisce with old friends, and make some new ones while you’re there.

2. DOWNTOWN POMONA ART WALK

Where/When: West 2nd Street and South Garey Avenue, Pomona. Saturday, October 29, 6 to 9 p.m.

Why Go: On the second and last Saturdays of the month, more than three dozen galleries host artist receptions featuring their latest exhibits. Shops, studios, and restaurants stay open late, and art lovers can peruse everything from photography to jewelry to ceramics. Pets are welcome to join in on the fun.

3. METRO NIGHT OUT

Where/When: West 2nd Street and South Main Street, Pomona. Saturday, October 29, 4 p.m.

Why Go: Pomona is the happening place to be Saturday, with this fun classic car show and certified farmer’s market open before the Downtown Pomona Art Walk. Enjoy live music, art and more.

Pricing: Free

4. TOT AND ME ICE SKATING

Where/When: 201 South Plum Avenue, Ontario. Saturday, October 29, 11 a.m.

Why Go: Is your young child interested in learning how to skate? Bring them to this five week class where they will learn everything from stopping to turning to even gliding on one foot. Wear warm clothing, including gloves and a hat, and arrive early for skate fitting. This is recommended for two to five-year-olds.

Pricing: $75, which includes one parent and one child
