Get Out This Weekend

Celebrate the Lunar New Year, and check out some amazing roadsters.

With the weekend right around the corner, here’s a guide to some events you might want to check out.

1. GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW

Where/When: Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona. Noon to 9 p.m. Friday, January 27; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 28; and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 29.

Why Go: Now in its 63rd year, the Grand National Roadster Show is the longest running indoor car show in the world, and this year’s theme is “Futuristic.” More than 500 show vehicles will compete for wards, and 400 to 800 cars will attend the 7th annual Grand Daddy Drive-in Saturday and Sunday.

Pricing: $20; $10 for kids 6 to 12; free for children 5 and under.

2. CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Where/When: Diamond Bar High School, 21400 Pathfinder Road, Diamond Bar. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28.

Why Go: This annual event, hosted by the Diamond Bar Chinese-American Association, will feature games, food, and entertainment, including traditional programs. It’s the perfect family event.

Pricing: Free

3. BALLET FOLKLORICO DE ANQIOQUIA, COLOMBIA

Where/When: Haugh Performing Arts Center, Citrus College, 1000 W. Foothill Blvd., Glendora. 8 p.m. Friday, January 27.

Why Go: This famous group of musicians and dancers are on their first tour of the United States, and this is one of their first stops. Ballet Folklorico de Antioquia, Colombia will bring the spirit and folklore of Colombia to the San Gabriel Valley.
