Girls to Share Science Camp Experience

At a dinner meeting for college-trained women next month, two Walnut students will share their experiences about a week spent performing science experiments and solving mathematics problems.

Tech Trek, an AAUW sponsored science and math camp for girls entering 8th grade, is designed to develop interest and excitement in science and math, according to Tech Trek Coordinator Marian Welch.

The weeklong camp features hands-on science and math activities, experiments, and field trips.

AAUW is a national organization that supports equity for women and girls and encourages lifelong education. Membership is open to anyone with an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or higher degree from an accredited college or university.

Anyone interested in attending the dinner meeting or in learning more about the AAUW may call 909-861-4822.

Each year AAUW supports the "Legal Advocacy Fund" that fights discrimination in the workplace and the "Education Fund" that offers scholarships for education.

AAUW events include guest speakers, social events, and fundraisers.  The local branch also offers various group activities, including book and bridge groups, Out-to-Lunch Bunch and Movie Night.
