Man Arrested for Firing Shots at Pomona Police Parking Lot

A 24-year-old Pomona man has been arrested in connection with the shooting last week.

A 24-year-old man suspected of firing gunshots at the Pomona police parking lot, striking several vehicles and nearby homes, was arrested, authorities said today.

Nestor Gonzalez of Pomona was arrested on Wednesday after an investigation into the drive-by shooting, which occurred around 7:20 p.m. Friday, said Pomona police Sgt. Patrick O'Malley. No one was injured, O'Malley said.

Gonzalez is alleged to have fired several rounds at the fenced lot, which is across the street from the Pomona police and fire departments at the corner of West Mission Boulevard and Park Avenue, according to O'Malley.

Detectives investigating the case identified Gonzalez as a suspect and obtained a search warrant for his residence and vehicle, O'Malley said.

Gonzalez was booked on suspicion of firing a gun at unoccupied vehicles and inhabited dwellings and felony vandalism and was jailed on $250,000 bail,
O'Malley said.
