Mark Your Calendar for America Recycles Day

November 12 is the day to recycle e-waste, shred confidential documents, and get mulch for free.

Start gathering your electronic waste and papers that need to be shredded: on Saturday, November 12, the city will observe America Recycles Day, and a free event marking the occasion will take place at the AQMD parking lot.

Four separate areas will be set up: e-waste recycling, paper shredding, free mulch distribution, and an environmental booth. Residents can recycle computers, monitors, televisions, vacuums, cell phones, and more, with microwaves requiring a $5 per unit disposal fee. The paper shredding will be done by a licensed and bonded company within full view of the public. Cardboard items will not be accepted.

The mulch will be distributed on a first come, first served basis by Waste Management, the company that handles hauling away Diamond Bar’s residential waste. Those interested in taking home mulch should bring their own containers and shovels to collect the mulch. At the environmental booth, educational information will be available on everything from services provided by the city to cell phone recycling kits.
