Miss Diamond Bar Pageant Now Accepting Applications

The first orientation date is Saturday, January 14.

It’s almost time to crown this year’s Miss Diamond Bar.

Contestants can now apply for the pageant by visiting the official website. The first orientation is on Saturday, January 14.

According to director Linda Headlee, there are several reasons why young women should try for the Miss Diamond Bar title.

“It is an opportunity to become involved in your community, and make some new friends,” she said. “All contestants learn new skills to enhance their personal growth and social skills. Scholarship money is given to not only Miss Diamond Bar but also the entire court.”

To be eligible, contestants must be between the ages of 16 and 27 by February 1, and either be a resident of Diamond Bar or attend a school in Diamond Bar. A $175 refundable fee is payable at orientation.

The competition, which was founded in 1964, involves professional dress, personal interview, swimsuit, and formal dress.

“During pageant training, we stress interview skills,” Headlee said. “We have had former contestants and court members tells how this helped them later in their job interviews. We have some wonderful volunteers that offer modeling, etiquette, and interview tips to all the contestants. Our professional photographer, Joelle Leder Photography, is a former Miss Diamond Bar Princess. She said that her interest in being a photographer started with the pageant and our wonderful pageant photographer at the time, Ruth Clarke. We also stress physical fitness.”

Before the March 18th pageant, which will be held at Diamond Bar High School, the contestants will model at a fashion show at the Diamond Bar Golf Course on February 19.
