Updated: Power Outage Reported in Walnut

The area near Pierre and Valley Boulevard, as well homes in the Collegewood neighborhood have reported an outage.

Update 11:39 p.m.

Southern California Edison points to faulty equipment as the cause of the power outage in Walnut tonight.

A total of 3,242 residents have been affected by the outage, with crews estimating that power will be restored by 4 a.m.

Patch reader Veronica R. Bejarano reports that the outage also has affected the Walnut High and Suzanne Middle School areas.

The city of Walnut is experiencing a widespread power outage, according to Southern California Edison.

At around 7:38 a.m., the outage was reported. Homes and businesses in the Collegewood area and at Grand Avenue and San Jose Hills Road have been affected by the blackout. 

Patch reader Laura McKee Orozco also reported on Facebook that the area near the Walnut Liquorette on Pierre near Valley Boulevard also is in the dark.

Edison is aware of the outage and expects to have power restored by 9 p.m., according to the website.
