'Taste of Diamond Bar' Brings Local Fare

The "Taste of Diamond Bar" fundraiser for St. Denis' Catholic Church in Diamond Bar brought together the community to enjoy a summer evening outdoors while having some great local food.

Area restaurants and residents came together Saturday for a summertime smorgasbord hosted at .

Gigi Ranjbari, a member of the church's Fundraising Committee, said the event was one of many in the region with a goal of raising nearly $5.5 million needed to build a new parish hall, scheduled to break ground next year.

The Church's current hall is used primarily as a class room setting, but is quite old, Ranjbari said.

Event Chair Romina Andersen said that the church is getting closer to its ultimate goal in terms of fundraising, but that the event has another purpose in bringing out some of the area's finest chefs and restaurants.

"We have a lot of diversity and some great Filipino food in the area," said Anderson referring to The Hut Pinoy Food and Pinoy Pinay Fillipino fast food, and other local eateries donating to the festive outdoor feast.
