Thunderstorms and Gusts Likely through to Sunday

The National Weather Service issued wind advisories for the San Gabriel Valley Friday and predicts possible thunderstorms through to early Sunday morning.

The National Weather service reports that the powerful storm moving through the southland will continue through early Sunday morning, bringing more rain, possible thunderstorms, and continued light wind of up to 10 mph.

An NWS report leading into the weekend reported that these gusts will likely have the power to topple trees throughout the weekend, particularly after the soil has been softened by heavy rains.

In December, , blocking northbound traffic for over an hour, despite having what Jordan said is a typically strong root system.

The NWS also reports that thunderstorms will have the potential to produce hail and funnel clouds.

And while the weekend storm looks to give another boost to the ski season, the NWS warns that mountain travel, especially above 5,000 feet, will be particularly dangerous.
