Water Supply Cut 50 Percent, 10-Day Reduction Starts Friday

The Walnut Valley Water District is asking residents to conserve water as the supply will be cut by 50 percent due to retrofits at the F.E. Weymouth Treatment Plant in LaVerne from March 18-27.

Water supplies will be cut by over 50 percent from March 18-27 for Diamond Bar and Walnut residents as .

The Walnut Valley Water District is asking residents to turn off all sprinkler and yard irrigation systems for that period and to limit all non-essential indoor water uses.

Patch gardening columnist Steve Williams offered  in his Tuesday article and the Walnut Valley Water District offered the following conservation tips to residents:

  • Avoid landscape irrigation or outdoor watering.
  • Take a five-minute shower instead of a bath. Turn water off while washing and back on again to rinse.
  • Use a broom instead of a hose to clean sidewalks and driveways.
  • Run only full loads in your washing machine and dishwasher.
  • Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.
