WVUSD Enrolling for Home School Program

Courtesy of the Walnut Valley Unified School District

The Walnut Valley Unified School District is now enrolling Home School Program kindergarten through eighth grade students for the 2013-2014 school year.

The WVUSD Home School Program utilizes an independent study model for homeschooling families.  The instructional curriculum is aligned with the Walnut Valley Unified School District’s course of study and instructional calendar, as well as the standards and frameworks developed by the California Department of Education.

When a student is enrolled in WVUSD Home School, the home educator is provided with all textbooks, workbooks and teacher's editions necessary for home education.

The home educator is also given a curriculum guide, which maps out the course of study for every subject each school month.  This curriculum guide is flexible, based upon the needs of the student.

WVUSD Home School combines strong educational curriculum with personalized instructional support.  The program enables students to continue their education in a homeschooling setting by entering into an independent study contract.

A fully-credentialed WVUSD teacher is assigned to each homeschool student and provides support to the homeschooling family.  WVUSD Home School is a public school which is guided by both the California Education Codes and the Walnut Valley Unified School District's Board Policies.
