Membership Tea for McKinley Children's Center Women's Auxiliary

Are you looking for a way to help others?  Do you want to improve the lives of Kids that
either don’t have a family to care for them or have a family that can’t care
for them?  Do you want to help Children
of abuse, abandonment and neglect who need to know someone cares and wants them
to have a better life?

The volunteer Women’s Auxiliary of the McKinley Children’s
Center in San Dimas
enjoys working to raise funds for extra curricular activities, supplies and
numerous other items for the Kids at McKinley. The Auxiliary offers motivational
scholarships and other awards to encourage additional academic efforts, as well
as offering entertainment activities, one day trips away from the school,
camping, and to answer many other various and sundry requests that come up on a
regular basis.  After their summer
hiatus, a Membership Luncheon is in the planning for October.  Everyone will be welcome to attend, all ages,
as the ladies are always looking for new members to share and get involved in
their activities. It’s not always possible to work directly with the Kids but
seeing the fruits of one’s labors in fund raising makes it worth while because
the Auxiliary is always improving the lives of these Children who range in age
from 5 to 18.

Sharing ones need and desire to give of their time to help
another is what it’s all about.  It is
such a necessary and basic feeling to want to help others.  McKinley’s Kids just want to be kids like
everyone else, however, many of them don’t have any family to help them with
their wants and needs.  That’s where the
Ladies Auxiliary comes in.

The Ladies meet once a month at the McKinley Children’s
Center Auditorium on campus and share a luncheon prepared by the chefs of
McKinley.  There is a small fee for lunch,
however, most of it goes into the fund for the Kids.  The monthly luncheon usually involves a
speaker that is of interest to all the ladies.
Some past speakers have been an Antiques Dealer, a lady from a Therapy
K-9 College, various columnists from local newspapers, and such.  All the Ladies look forward to the 2 hour
gathering and socializing.  You’ll make
many new friends of all ages.

Throughout the year the Auxiliary has a couple of fund
raising events such as their annual Spring Event Luncheon with entertainers,
decorations, raffle prizes, door prizes and this event is always a sold out,
over the top success!  Last year they
also compiled membership Cook Books and sold them. Everyone donates a few hours
of their time to help with these projects….it’s really enjoyable and quite
painless.  You only need to donate the
time you can afford to spare, be it a lot or a little.

Come join the sisterhood….Mark you calendars for Lunch with
the McKinley Ladies on the third Monday in October (21st)….save that
date and have all your questions answered, see what it’s all about for
yourself.  The ladies would love to meet
you and show you around.  Call at
626-333-4246 for more information.
