IT AIN'T OVER 'TIL THIS FAT LADY SINGS

Congratulations to Mr. Bob Pacheco and Ms. Mary Su for winning the election. May GOD shine his Light upon you and guide you to lead our city to be the best that humanity has to offer.
The next election is two years away, with three seats up for grabs. I pray it will be a clean, dignified and better show of sportsmanship.
Until then, to quote Casey Kasem, "Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars!"
In the meantime, this song is for you. I can't sing so you'll have to serenade yourself....

GOD bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above;
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
GOD bless America,
My home, sweet home.
GOD bless America,
My home, sweet home.

I LOVE YOU, WALNUT!

@roi881: I don't understand what you mean by "shortening [my] handle. I never heard of that saying before. Re: good vs evil... Live your life so that you can look at yourself in the mirror at the end of the day & feel happy that you did something good for the world today; remove the "self" out of what drive your decisions/actions (i.e., what's in it for me!). Integrity, Honesty, Selflessness, Grace, Transparency, Love, and please feel free to add some more in the same line of thought. The Good will always prevail. Sometimes we may lose the battle to evil, but we live forever in Spirit. I've fought with the best against the worst of humanity, and if it weren't for my fear of GOD, love for my family, and respect for the law, I would've been in prison a long time ago. There is no excuse for the greed that drives some of us out there because there are many like me who do right just because it's the right thing to do, not because we fear getting caught or are afraid of the consequences.

Ah... one more thing: In my job as a peace officer (22 years before I retired), and my husband for 27 years (still active), we were entrusted with people's money (vehicle searches, handling prisoner's property & money, homes (during security or warrant searches), NOT ONCE was I nor my hubby have been tempted to take a penny, nickle or dime, or even take a drink out of their kitchen faucet.. simply because it is not ours to take. We wait 'til we were done then we go buy our own water. I could have also sold my soul to move up the ranks, but I didn't... if that answer your question.

Your comments about Greed, Trust and not taking a penny, are about you. This discussion is about those on the other side of the coin. Ask Leland Yee. A Few control the lives of Many. Now get out there and run for Office. As noted Curt and Bob are headed for the Door.

Well, I am an optimist and hope that in the least, with the "uproar" of the people in the last election, the local politicians will keep themselves in check 'cause they know there is more scrutiny now than before. Re: the handle, lol... you mean THAT handle. There are a lot of handles.. .love handle, broom handle, etc! I can't run for office due to health/cancer, and never want to be in office anyway... You give up too much privacy and time with family. When the city gives you a cell phone, it's a ball and chain AND.. you have to behave all the time and can't mouth off like this.. lol...
