My goal for this Meet & Greet was to have all four candidates stand beside each other for a photograph, so as to show that despite their political differences, varying personal goals and opinions on how this city should be run, that ultimately, we’re all in this together. We need to peacefully co-exist, and it is important that we work together to build-up our town, our community, our little village, rather than to break it down by tearing each other apart as it has been these past miserable weeks. Our children learn from watching us. We need teach them by representing the best that humanity has to offer. So here they are, ladies and gentlemen, our four candidates in these two photos. (Betty Tang arrived shortly after Bob Pacheco and Mary Su had left. Dino Jimmy Pollalis stayed for the entire event, so he’s in both photos.) Though the attendance was thin, even if only one resident showed, that one resident was just as important as a crowd of one thousand, because the American way is that we leave no one behind, and one individual voice is just as important as the voices of many. So where do we go from here? I do not know! I am writing this while praying to GOD to bless all the candidates and lead the winners on the right path. What I saw today was inherent goodness in all the candidates. But I also know not to be offended when during a conversation with me, the conversing candidate’s eyes suddenly averted and attention was immediately drawn to whoever just entered the room. Ah, yes, another potential vote just arrived, so the conversation immediately ended with me and went to the new arrival. I also saw a very misguided candidate. All I can say to this candidate is I don’t think your hired help has been doing you any good. I would have run your campaign differently. Be careful whom you accept the money from, and to whom you write your check. I really do believe that when money exchanges hands in the political arena. You will owe favors and will not be able to say no when a favor is asked. I also heard and agreed with two of the four candidates, “We need to take this city back. There are too many outside influences.” As a resident since 1991, a patrol deputy/community relations deputy, liaison deputy with the local school districts, with the local Board of Supervisors’ field offices, while assigned to the Walnut/Diamond Bar & San Dimas Sheriff’s Stations from 1991 to 1996, I know what’s up, folks! I’ve seen this city grow and change. Unless there is gold or oil underneath our town, I do question the motives of the outsiders (non-Walnut residents) with the money they pour into these campaigns, with their self-serving, one-sided political agenda. Yes, we need to take back Walnut, and bring back the Walnut Pride that once was. We need to assist the newly arrived residents to blend into the mosaic of this community, instead of isolating themselves in their zone of comfort. We need to help our children assimilate into the mainstream now, or else they will always be looked up on as foreigners when they enter higher learning or when they enter the workplace. There is so much work to be done. So vote on Tuesday and make your vote count! I LOVE YOU, WALNUT!

Michael, you keep on sighting accent history, trying to portray that it is revealing of impropriety to this election. It is 2014 not 2003. Find something from this decade that actually means something to the voters of Walnut.

JM, Right, so you are saying Pacheco WAS a liar or incompetent, but now he is not- I got it. Anyone that believes that is a fool. So YOU are glad your guy had to pay a $14,000 fine? Did Mary Su, Betty Tang or Dino EVER have to pay a fine for lying/incompetence? NO, none of them have. What does that make you?
JM April 06, 2014 at 01:30 PM
MIchael, you are a tool. Mr Pacheco is not a liar. You are unacceptable of putting to 2 coherent sentences together therefor you have to cite LA Times articles for 2003. What have you done to help this city? I hope Dino continues his efforts to make a change. Unfortunately his campaign started a too late. As for the other candidates, I am sure the questionable antics of the Tang campaign will be under investigation and the war chest that Su campaign gathered will be investigated as well.

Who would waste their time "meeting and greeting" the lowest form of 'human" life? These aren't "people", they're disgusting, repulsive, lying, self centered psycho-sociopaths. ALL OF THEM. AND un-indicted felons. Normal, caring individuals would never consider this for a career.

Joebanana or whomever you are. Why are you hiding your identity, why are you so abusive and exactly what evidence do you have for your disgusting pronouncement?
