Melanie Johnson

It's sad to hear that Melanie Johnson is leaving- she is the BEST!!! She did a lot for Walnut.

Wow. Sad. Did you get caught up in the layoff? http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2014/01/29/Patch-com-Lays-Off-Hundreds-of-Journalists-Without-Warning

What happened, Melanie? We will certainly miss you.

Internet products are not free to produce. Unfortunately for the already pruned staff of the publication- the ratio of revenue to costs was not sustainable under the business models attempted. Patch was offloaded to a new owner who believes the remaining assets can be put to create a financially viable product.

I'd like to add my best wishes to you Melanie! Thanks to you for all your work on the Patch. It won't be the same with you gone

Turnaround company bought it, another name for greed. Farewell to Patch. Thank you Melanie. Our voice has been silenced just as they did with Nadine Brown and the Walnut Times.

Tanks so much Ray and Alan for the kind words!

Revenue to costs sucks for both Facebook and Twitter and they still keep those turkeys running. Armstrong, the CEO of AOL is just an incompetent manager. If he knew what he was doing, he could make it work. Perhaps if he allowed racial mudslinging, slander, and wanton sex a la MSNBC, this Patch would be successful.

Melanie: say it isn't so...I'll miss you along with all the others. I hope whatever direction you take 2014 with be a happy and prosperous new beginning.

Did AOL purchase the Patch?
Vito Spago February 01, 2014 at 01:22 PM
Founder of AOL also started the patch. He just bailed.
