19-Year-Old San Gabriel Valley Man Shot in Foot

A 19-year-old Pomona man who was shot in the foot was driven by strangers to a hospital and was not talking to police about who shot him, police said today.

Strangers found Salvador Ortiz walking near La Verne and Las Vegas avenues around 10:30 p.m. Sunday and drove him to Pomona Valley Community Hospital, said Pomona police Sgt. Iain Miller.

"The victim was suffering from a single non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his foot," Miller said.

"The victim was not cooperative and the motive for the shooting or the exact location of the shooting is unknown," he said. "The incident is still under investigation."
